Dyslexia Diagnostic Assessments

Rise Tuition are now able to offer families private dyslexia assessments and literacy screenings. These screenings are conducted by an accredited AMBDA* teacher at a fraction of the recommended price.

These screenings come with a full report. Recommendations from the report can be given to the SENCO of your child's school and to your child's teacher for immediate implementation into their learning.

*(Holders of AMBDA accreditation are recognised as Specialists in Dyslexia/Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) qualified to conduct specialist diagnostic assessments; Exam Access Arrangements and to deliver Specialist Teaching programmes to learners with Dyslexia/SpLD up to and including 18 years of age.)

Services we offer

Shorter literacy screening (1.5 hrs)

This tells you about a child's reading comprehension, word reading accuracy, fluency and speed and spelling and writing skills. Detailed screenings also measure phonological awareness and working and short-term verbal memory. These are underlying cognitive skills that affect the aforementioned 'behavioural' or surface level skills. Overall, literacy screenings give a picture of a child's strengths and weaknesses and aim to inform classroom strategies and support.

Full diagnostic assessment (2.5 hrs)

This tells you all of the above, yet is deeper as it may identify the specific learning difficulty (SpLD) of dyslexia and may indicate that other SpLDs are present as co-occurrence is common. Underlying ability is measured to help build a broader picture of a child's strengths and weaknesses and learning styles. Informal evidence is also analysed as part of the assessment process. Only a qualified dyslexia assessor can conduct diagnostic assessments.

This assessment can take place over two sessions.
