Primary Exams

At Rise Tuition we understand that many parents want to see their child succeed in their exams. We are able to support your child so they are ready for this important part of primary school life.

KS1 SATs

Your child will sit their first exams in Key Stage 1 in the summer term of Year 2.

They are tested in Maths and English (reading and spelling, punctuation and grammar). Additionally, your child will be assessed by their teacher on six different pieces of independent writing.

KS2 SATs

The next time your child will take SATs will be in Key Stage 2 in Year 6.

More formal than Key Stage 1, these written tests (in English, Maths and sometimes Science) are 45 minutes long and can be quite daunting for this age group. The papers are sent away for marking and the results are known before children leave primary school in July.

KS2 SATs are important as the results get passed on to your child's secondary school and determine which set (ability class) they will be in from the beginning of Year 7.

11+

The 11 Plus (also called the 11+ or Eleven Plus) is an examination taken by some school pupils in their last year of primary school to get into a grammar school of their choice. In reality most children will only be 10 years old when they take the test - the term "11 Plus" refers to the fact that the test selects for schools with an entry point for children aged 11 or over.

Your child will be required to sit the following papers:
- Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning
- Maths
- English
